As I was writing in crayon, I paid more attention to the clarity of my penmenship. My thought process was a little more direct and to the point so that I wouldnt have to write as much. The writing itself although tedious, was very refreshing for me.
In a culture that only writes in crayons, I think the color would have a lot to do with what emotion they want the reader to feel. The visual aspect of the writing would play a larger role. Also I feel penmenship would be valued much more due to the difficulty of writing in crayons. I feel tht culture would value a logn piece of wrtitng also due to the difficulty of doing so.
I noticed in your crayoned paper that the font was large and bold (RED!). The visual effect of this was quite powerful. Do you think that the verbal effect -- the words themselves -- was equally effective? Or, did you restrict your meaning making because the writing implement (here, the crayon) was so awkward to manage?
ReplyDeleteIn the piece I wrote, color was actually the last thing on my mind. I didn't really pay attention to what color I was writing in therefore my choice of words was all I based my response off of. I restricted my number of words by choosing those that would clearly reflect how I felt and didn't go in to very much detail.
ReplyDeleteAlex, I agree that in a culture with just crayons a visual aspect would play a huge role in reading a paper. It was super tedious and I had some trouble with it but like you I focused more on what I was writing.
ReplyDeleteI agree that a persons feeling would influence on what color they choose to write in.
